Prosodic Word (Group)

The prosodic word (PW) consists of a stem plus suffixes. Clitics (that is, stressless items) are usually incorporated into the host PW when enclitics, and proclitics as well as prefixes are adjoined to the following PW. The Prosodic Word Group (PWG) is a level of phrasing between the PW and the Phonological Phrase. For example, in BP internal members of PWG are assigned significant less pitch accents that non-branching PWs, that is PWs directly under the Phonological phrase.
In P-ToBI, clitics, PWs and PWGs are distinguished in the break index tier.
